Originally released this past winter, a newly updated and revised version of the 2011 Arlington County Bike Map has been released. Available for download in electronic format, small revisions and changes, such as newly added bike lanes and sharrows or additional recommended on-street routes, have been added to the bike network within Arlington County.
The most significant change made to the bike map is the increased usability across jurisdictions. Partnering with Fairfax County and Alexandria's bicycle programs gave BikeArlington the ability to now show connectivity across county lines in all directions as recommended on-street routes extend outside of Arlington.
Other minor changes include updated Capital Bikeshare locations in Arlington and DC, a blown up inset of the bike network across Chain Bridge, and updated saftey and contact information.
A printed version of the updated map will be available soon for free by mail through Arlington County's brochure distribution service.
BikeArlington is an initiative of Arlington County, Virginia to encourage and enable more people to go by bike more often. To stay up to date on biking in Arlington, follow BikeArlington on Twitter or visit the Washington Area Bike Forum.
