TDM is one of the hot new acronyms bandied about the transportation world these days. Come learn about what it means from some of the most experienced professionals in the field. Arlington County Commuter Services (ACCS) and the NoVA section of the Virginia American Planning Association will jointly present a free and open to the public series of talks on "Transportation Demand Management (TDM) in Arlington" from 3:15 to 5:30 on October 8, 2009 at Central Library AUditorium, 1015 N. Quincy Street Arlington, VA.
Mr. Tim Torma will discuss the recently adopted TDM element of the Master Transportation Plan and how it ties to the other elements and other transportation and land use decisions in Arlington and around the region. Mr Torma is a Senior Policy Analyst with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and a member of the Arlington County Transportation Commission.
Mr. Chris Hamilton, the Bureau Chief of Arlington County Commuter Services will provide an overview of the organizational structure that helps to implement the TDM program in Arlington, and the success it has achieved.
Mr. John Durham, TDM Planner with Arlington County, will discuss how TDM site plan conditions are envisioned, written and negotiated as well as how these conditions are monitored and enforced.
Mr. Calvin Abram, Parking Manager for the City of Alexandria and a former transportation site planner for Arlington County, will describe how TDM fits into the overall transportation plan for a project.
