OK, so the weather forecast for Saturday's Bike DC doesn't look, how shall we say, "tropical". The report presently is for a high of 48 degrees and a 70% chance of rain. Some would say that's cold and rainy, but you can still be warm and dry by dressing smart so you'll have a great time despite the rain. Here are some ideas to get you ready for Saturday as well as riding throughout the fall and winter.
What to wear:
1) Waterproof jacket - Keeps the top dry. A poncho or "bike cape" are good too as they keep your head and feet relatively dry too.
2) Waterproof pants - Keeps the bottom dry. (I just bought a pair of these at Filene's Basement for $15.)
3) Waterproof gloves - Keep the digits toasty.
4) Wear contact lenses instead of glasses - Rain beads up on glasses, so don't wear the windshield if you don't have the wipers.
5) Scarf - There's nothing worse than a cold neck, so this will help you regulate your temp.
6) Portable heater - Just kidding on this last one. Your body will be warmed up after the first few minutes of riding, so you won't even need this.
So rain is expected. Consider it a shower for you and your bike at no additional cost.
See you there!

Even 48 is looking warm for tomorrow morning. More realistic is a temp hovering around 40.
Good luck to those who brave the elements...
