With your help, BikeArlington and
WalkArlington are gearing up for the biggest pedestrian and bicyclist counting
event of the year. September is the main event for the National Bicycle and Pedestrian Documentation Project. Volunteers in
Arlington will conduct manual counts at a
number of locations across the County on Thursday, September 10 and Saturday, September 12. These counts are
the gold standard of data collection – the numbers help us quantify
non-motorized transportation, and the observations and feedback of volunteers
help us understand and analyze the numbers, and support requests for continuing
investment in cycling and walking. Please come and be a part of this important
work.
Also, please join us before the
counts for a bit of training and socialization. On Wednesday, September 9, on the lobby level of Court House Plaza,
2100 Clarendon Boulevard, we will gather for
orientation, discussion, and light refreshments. Remember, 09/09/09 from 6 – 8:00 pm. There will be
a presentation on the counting effort beginning at
6:30.
To volunteer a few hours of your time for this important data collection effort, email BikeArlington at bikepedcounts@arlingtonva.us.
