We are always in awe of the energy and thought that goes into Richard Layman's Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space blog. But this post is amazing. Now he bring us a must-read 36-point Transportation Plan for the District (The Revised Revised People's Transportation Plan/2008 Transit-Transportation Wish List, February 22). DC leaders should just copy Mr. Layman's Plan/Wish List, hand it out to staff and say go do it. The District and the region would be better for it. Enjoy.

I think the truncated blue line works if there is a silver line to take up the slack. There's still the yellow line for anyone who's going through L'Enfant to downtown, and people commuting from Alexandria to the Wilson corridor would already have to transfer to the orange line. The only folks really affected by such a shift would be people in Alexandria/southern Arlington who worked at one of the three stations between Rosslyn and Metro Center -- and if the silver line existed as proposed, a lot of them might be closer to their offices if they took that instead.

Are you okay with the idea of a truncated blue line?
I would have just dropped it entirely, with a shuttle between Rosslyn and Pentagon providing service to Arl. Cemetery, but that would create major problems for people in Fairfax and South Arlington who work in the Rosslyn-Wilson Corridor.
And I forgot maybe a couple things, like a platform expansion and north of Rhode Island Ave. exit at RI station, but heck, I need some stuff for next year.
Thanks.
