Our good friends at the WashCycle blog have the latest news on bikesharing in our region (Epic Bike Sharing Post, November 2, 2007). It's a must read. Weaving information together from some articles about the Paris program and interviews with local bikesharing experts, DDOT's Jim Sebastian, WABA's Eric Gilliand and Arlington's Paul DeMaio, we learn EVERYTHING we need to know about bikesharing in general and how it might roll out in our region.
We also find out that DDOT is weeks away from launching their program and that Arlington and Alexandria may be close behind (next year). The three jurisdictions (and maybe some others) will be meeting soon to discuss potential coordination, even though all parties haven't yet seen eye to eye on utilizing the same systems. We'll see how things play out. So if you are interested in the subject please read the Epic Bike Sharing Post.
