How do you imagine bike parking at the new Nationals stadium? Well, after viewing this video by StreetFilms and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition about the attended bike parking at the San Francisco Giants ballpark, I have a whole new appreciation of how good bike parking can be at sporting events.
The video shows individuals who bike to the Giants stadium dropping off their bicycle feet from the main entrance to the field. The attendant has cyclists signing-in and getting a ticket stub to pick-up their bike after the ballgame. What a great way to encourage biking and discourage driving to sporting events.
Attended bike parking at baseball games weds two of America's favorite activities, baseball and biking.
TDM is huge in San Francisco for any large event. Many (most?) locals take public transportation to Giants games, with extra trains running late if necessary on game nights. Caltrain is just a couple of blocks away, and SF Muni is almost literally just across the street.
