I recently saw a commercial for Esurance, an online car insurance company, which was promoting
carpooling and green living. The commercial's hip cartoon characters encouraged SOV drivers to cut their CO2 emissions by carpooling and begin "the road to change." View the commercial at http://www.esurance.com/home/tv.asp. The commerical also promotes their website -- http://www.esurance.com/sos/ -- where you can calculate your CO2 impact and gives tips for saving gas and driving less.
I thought it was unusual for a car insurance company to promote carpooling when their business depends on getting more drivers to insure their cars. The commercial doesn't even mention anything about buying car insurance from them, just a message promoting changing your driving habits to reduce emissions and help the environment.

Hmm, always hard to tell if this is genuine environmental concern or greenwashing. But it can't hurt, right?
