I'm a bike owner at last! After much looking and testing -- and with great advice from CommuterPageBlog readers and my bike-riding friends -- I am the proud owner of a new bike!
I chose a hybrid bike that's specifically designed for women, made by Trek. I like the easy 'step-through
' style of frame and the frame size fits me well and is very comfortable. The seat is very comfy, too! The handlebar-gearshift is terrific; that was new to me as I haven't bought a new bike since maybe the Carter Administration. Egad, I'm dating myself.
I already see that biking is yet another hobby on which one can spend lots of $. I've already added fenders, a rear rack, a water bottle cage, and front and rear lights. Safety first! I also registered my bike with the Arlington County Police Department, which everyone should do.
Now I'm ready for warmer weather so I can hit the 89 miles of bike trails and lanes in Arlington!
